I like Chinese (leaving for Paris)

Well hello again. Yes, the travel blog is back and I'm continuing with the song references in the title. I am hoping to avoid repetition, but since this is 91st post I won't guarantee it.

Tomorrow morning we fly out for France to pick up where we left of a little over 12 months ago. I'm sure you remember that sad and sorry tale dear reader. The long-awaited dream overseas holiday was effectively ended when Jayne fell down the stairs of our apartment on our third day in Paris and shattered her leg. Sadly we have only three weeks this time around and not three months. We will pick up a car at the airport and head for the Loire Valley for the first week and then two weeks in Paris.

I will be writing the blog while in the Loire, but we are staying in a tiny village away from the larger towns and there is no internet access. I will load all of the posts once we get into Paris on July 6th.

Those of you who understand my cycling addiction will no doubt be wondering if I will be lucky enough to pick up a stage or two of Le Tour. The stark reality is no. The early stages of the Tour are down south where we spent time last year. We are scheduled to fly home the day the tour rides into Paris. As Cadel takes the podium we will be in the air. I looked to reschedule the flights so we could stay for one more day but even I thought the cost was ridiculous. So, no Tour ... this year, but 2014 or 2015, you never know.

And to the song title, a cheeky little number by Monty Python. We are flying with China Southern Airlines, so I am really hoping that I will like Chinese. It's an experiment, but the tickets were two-thirds of the cost of Qantas and we avoid Heathrow, which is always a bonus. Apparently China Southern are trying to establish themselves in the international market, but you'll get a full review post flight.

Until then, dear reader, adieu.
